exhaust 原义有“排出、耗尽”，来自拉丁语 exhaurire，意为“抽干、舀空”；在工程与通风语境中引申为“排出废气/空气”。fan 来自古英语 fann，本义与“扇动、扬谷的工具”有关，后来泛指“扇风的装置”。合在一起 exhaust fan 就是“用于排出空气的风扇”。
