twister本质上是一个不需要中心服务器的twitter,传统的社交网络服务需要你登陆到一个固定的服务器，否则你无法使用任何功能。
twister不需要中心服务器，它使用基于比特币与bt下载的技术来构建一个p2p的网络，你的消息存放在这个p2p网络中，只要你在任何有互联网接入的地方，理论上都可以连入twister网络，使用全部功能。
twister网络上没有任何管理员对你的言论进行审查与过滤！使用twister不需要翻墙。你的消息一经发表，无法删除！

之前出现过类似的基于BTSync 同步的Vole，比这个好上手，不过似乎已经没有更新了～

@free4537 说它适合中国网民说的是它可能可以避免言论审查，不过我的看法和楼上一样，很容易被封的
当然像shadowsocks一样很容易自己架设，但小众化了又没什么意义了
